About me
Hello, Frederikke here, I am passionate about providing therapy to helping professionals.
I am curious why you might be here, and questions you might have about therapy?
I offer counselling and therapy for helpers and helping professionals in person and online.
Over the years, I have seen what resources, love and dedication people bring to the helping profession. I have seen how the personal and professional sometimes intersect, creating problems in living, in love and at work.
If you have lost your spark, I want you to remember that just as helping work can burn our vitality, that vitality can also be restored.
Experience & credentials
With a background as a worker and a manager in the helping sector, I understand helping and helpers from different vantage points. Separate from my role as a counsellor at Throughline Counselling, I hold a leadership role in a human services organisation, which I value and love.
I am a master’s-level narrative therapist graduated from The University of Melbourne and a registered counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). I have a Grad. Dip. in Psychology from Charles Sturt University.
I am oriented towards psycho-dynamic therapy and use narrative therapy as my main modality. I am interested in what people really want from therapy and the research behind what provides better outcomes in therapy beyond diagnosis and symptoms of mental distress.
Why I offer intensive, longer-term therapy
Research has shown that many people drop counselling after the first sessions—often due to the work of therapy not being clarified or a mismatch early on. That is a shame and a waste for the person seeking therapy, when we also have studies that show it takes a lot more than 10 counselling sessions for people to get well.
Because I want to offer people lasting change after they finish therapy with me, my therapeutic offer is not run-of-the-mill. I work mostly weekly with people. I keep space between appointments for clients’ privacy and also for my own longevity.
Therapy with depth needs space, resources and rest.
I am interested in people’s inner worlds, stories of hope, stories of despair, and dreams. I use a relational way of working and offer in-person counselling sessions in Bendigo, Kangaroo Flat, as well as online.
My approach is steeped in helping helpers regain their agency in life, work and love. On the note of agency, this is your intake too, so feel free to ask more questions than what is answered on this page. You are also welcome to email me for a callback.
Over to you now
Sincerely,
Frederikke Jensen
